Minnesota Twins Hire Hitting Coach From Top Organization

The Minnesota Twins didn’t have many coaching moves to make this offseason in an effort to deviate from the failures they experienced down the stretch. Rocco Baldelli was always going to return, and pitching coach Pete Maki wasn’t on the way out either. They moved on from their hitting coaches, and a familiar face is taking over. Last season the Minnesota Twins employed David Popkins and Rudy Hernandez as their hitting coaches. Derek Shomon worked with the dup as an assistant. Matt Borgschulte held the title of co-hitting coach for the Baltimore Orioles alongside Ryan Fuller. He now is returning to an organization he knows well to operate as the main voice. Borgschulte decided to leave the Orioles with an opening available for a franchise he is familiar with. Prior to joining Baltimore, Borgschulte operated as a minor league hitting coach in the Twins organization.
