The Minnesota Twins continued to reshape their bullpen as the second half of the season approaches. On Tuesday, the team selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Anthony Misiewicz from Triple-A St. Paul. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Twins designated lefty Joey Wentz for assignment.

Misiewicz has earned his promotion after making 26 appearances with St. Paul. He posted a 4.02 ERA with 29 strikeouts across 31.1 innings. Originally drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 2015, Misiewicz brings experience to the mound. He has pitched in parts of five MLB seasons with the Mariners, Royals, Diamondbacks, Tigers, and Yankees. Now, he has the opportunity to contribute to a Twins bullpen that continues to evolve.
To accommodate Misiewicz, the Twins designated Joey Wentz for assignment. Wentz joined the Twins organization after spending the bulk of his career with the Detroit Tigers. However, he struggled in limited opportunities this season, and the Twins decided to move on. Wentz appeared in just six games with Minnesota after being claimed off waivers earlier this year. He posted a 15.75 ERA, a 3.25 WHIP, and six strikeouts in eight innings. Now, he will either be claimed by another team, traded, or outrighted to the minors if he clears waivers.
The Twins’ decision to promote Anthony Misiewicz and move on from Joey Wentz reflects the ongoing effort to solidify the bullpen. As the season intensifies, every roster move could make a difference.
