Minnesota Twins Roster Transactions 9/5

The Minnesota Twins dropped the third game of their four-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays last night they are playing the finale this afternoon with Pablo Lopez taking the ball for Minnesota as he will be opposed by Taj Bradley for the Rays. The Twins will then start a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals in a big series as the two teams are currently tied for the fifth and sixth seeds in the Wild Card race. They will play that series without a key member as outfielder Max Kepler was placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to September 2 ^nd with left patellar tendinitis, they have selected the contract of outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. from Triple-A St. Paul and they transferred Kody Funderburk from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.

OF – Max Kepler

Kepler is in his tenth season; he is a career .237 hitter. This season in 105 games he’s hitting .253 with a .682 OPS; he has 21 doubles, a triple, eight home runs, 42 RBI, 43 runs scored, one stolen base, and 22 walks.

OF – DaShawn Keirsey Jr.

Keirsey was drafted in the fourth round of the 2018 MLB Draft out of Utah. He’s finally getting the call to make his big-league debut. This season in 103 games at St. Paul he’s hitting .292 with a .839 OPS; he has 20 doubles, seven triples, 14 home runs, 75 RBI, 69 runs scored, 36 stolen bases, and 45 walks.

LHP – Kody Funderburk

Funderbunk hasn’t pitched since July 12^th as he’s been dealing with a left oblique strain. This season in 26 games he was 1-0 with a 5.61 ERA, a 4.67 FIP, a 1.52 WHIP, a 4.0 BB/9, and an 8.3 K/9 in 33.2 innings.
