It doesn’t happen often, but the Blue Jays completed the organizational sweep.

Granted, the Florida Complex League Jays and the Dominican Summer League Jays’ seasons have ended, but all four “A” teams picked up a victory on Thursday.

Let’s dig into all of that in the latest Minor League Report!

Buffalo shutout Omaha

On Thursday, the Buffalo Bisons ended their two-game losing streak, defeating the Omaha Storm Chasers 7-0 to move their second-half record to 20-28.

In total, the team had five hits, none bigger than Riley Tirotta’s grand slam in the bottom of the first. This was his 11th home run with the Bisons and his 14th of the season. Luis De Los Santos and Nathan Lukes also had two singles.

Pitching was great for the Bisons, as Jake Bloss pitched three scoreless innings with three walks, hits, and strikeouts. He still hasn’t given up an earned run since joining the organization. Andrew Bash picked up the win thanks to three scoreless innings, while Mason Fluharty, Brandon Eisert, and José Cuas all pitched scoreless innings. Fluharty and Eisert both struck out two while Cuas struck out one.

New Hampshire scored a bunch of runs early

In the first two innings, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats scored seven of their eight runs, as they defeated the Hartford Yard Goats 8-2. Their second-half record sits at 17-29, but they’ve taken three of four from the Colorado Rockies’ affiliate in the ongoing series.

Each day, it looks like the Blue Jays won the Justin Turner for RJ Schreck deal, as Schreck hit his fourth home run with the team, along with a single that scored two. Since the trade, Schreck has a 183 wRC+ in 68 plate appearances since joining the Jays.

Rainer Nuñez’s resurgence hasn’t been talked about enough, as he hit his 11th home run of the season, along with a single. Charles McAdoo hit his second triple with the Fisher Cats, while Yohendrick Piñango and Ryan McCarty each hit a double, the latter having a multi-hit game. The other two hits came thanks to singles from Michael Turconi and Josh Rivera.

Lazaro Estrada made the start for the Fisher Cats and wouldn’t you know it, he pitched well. The 25-year-old righty finished with a line of 6 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 K to bring his Double-A ERA to 3.40. Moreover, the Blue Jays re-signed him according to insider Francys Romero.

First out of the bullpen was Dahian Santos, who struck out a batter in two innings of work. CJ Van Eyk allowed an earned run, as well as a walk in his inning of work, but struck out a batter. It appears he’ll finish the season in the bullpen.

Vancouver picked up a much-needed win

After the bullpen blew Wednesday’s game, the Vancouver Canadians got back in the win column with a 6-4 victory over the Everett AquaSox. Thanks to a Spokane loss, the two teams now share the second-half division lead with a 31-20 record. The Hillsboro Hops were the team to defeat Spokane, so they still sit two games behind the Canadians in the overall standings.

Starting with the home run, Peyton Williams (nicknamed The Iowa Meat Truck) hit his 10th home run of the season. Moreover, Jackson Hornung and Jay Harry each hit a double and a multi-hit game. Other Canadians with a hit were Nick Goodwin , Alex Stone, Brennan Orf , and Bryce Arnold .

Canadian Connor O’Halloran had the start, finishing with a line of 5 IP, 5 H, 2 ER (3 R), 3 BB, 6 K to bring his ERA at Single-A to 7.32. Irv Carter struck out a batter and gave up an earned run in three innings of work, while Grayson Thurman struck out a batter in a clean inning of work for his seventh save of the season.

Dunedin blew out Clearwater

The Dunedin Blue Jays are making a late push for the division lead thanks to basically all of the Jays’ 2024 college draft picks heading to the team. On Thursday, they defeated the Clearwater Threshers 12-4 and now sit five games back of the division lead. It’s not likely, but something we’ll keep an eye on in Minor League Reports.

Overall, the team had 12 hits, with Manuel Beltre hitting his fifth home run of the season, along with his second triple of the season and a six-RBI performance. Moreover, Aaron Parker hit his fourth home run in 64 plate appearances (and fifth double). Our very own Thomas Hall wrote more on that in this article here.

Another 2024 draftee, Eddie Micheletti Jr., also hit his fifth double since the draft and had a two-hit performance. Arjun Nimmala didn’t hit a home run, but he had two singles, while Carter Cunningham, Brock Tibbitts , and Tucker Toman each had a single.

As for pitching, Daniel Guerra made the start and finished with a line of 5 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K to bring his Single-A ERA to 4.19.  Bennett Flynn pitched a scoreless inning, but Colby Martin allowed two earned runs in two thirds of an inning. Jay Schueler also allowed two earned runs in an inning and a third, while Julio Ortiz struck out two in a clean inning.
