The Atlanta Braves and New York Mets are set to begin a three-game divisional series on Tuesday at Truist Park, but star outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. was in the news for something else on Monday.

Acuna and the Braves took two of three games from the lowly Colorado Rockies over the weekend, just like the Milwaukee Brewers before them. Those victories have helped raise Atlanta's record to 4-9 in June after an 0-7 start to the month.

Last week, the 27-year-old Acuna continued to dominate opposing pitching, going 13-for-21 (.619 average) with three home runs, six RBIs, eight runs scored and a stolen base, his first of the season after making his debut on May 23.

For his efforts, Major League Baseball presented him with an honor on Monday.

MLB named the Braves superstar its National League Player of the Week, alongside Texas Rangers infielder/designated hitter Josh Smith, who represented the American League.

Through his first 21 games this season, Acuna is batting a stellar .390 with an 1.179 OPS. He has added seven home runs, 13 RBIs, 13 walks and 18 runs scored despite the Braves' inconsistency in the win column.

Despite his hot bat upon return from injury, the 2023 MVP still has some work to do to catch Chicago Cubs right fielder Kyle Tucker in MLB All-Star Game voting, which the league provided an update for on Monday.
