Shohei Ohtani could not have asked for a better second season with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2025. After missing the MLB playoffs in each of his six seasons with the Los Angeles Angels, Ohtani has now won back-to-back World Series titles with the Dodgers, most recently capturing a 4-3 victory over Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Playing in 158 games during the 2025 MLB season, Ohtani produced some of the best numbers of his eight-year career. In 611 at-bats, the Japanese two-way superstar recorded 172 hits, a career-high 146 runs, 102 RBIs and a career-high 55 home runs, which ranked third in the entire league.
Ohtani proved to be successful on the mound as well. In 14 games pitched, he tallied a 2.87 ERA, 62 strikeouts and allowed just 62 hits and 15 runs. Ohtani also earned his fifth All-Star nod and fourth MVP award in 2025.
For another solid season with the Dodgers, Ohtani has been named the No. 1 player in the MLB Network's Top 100 Players Right Now. This marks the fourth time Ohtani has been ranked as the league's best player by the MLB Network. Rounding out the top ten behind Ohtani includes:
"Shohei Ohtani is No. 1 on @MLBNetwork ’s #Top100RightNow for the fourth time in his career!" the MLB wrote on X.
