MLB best bets: Pitcher prop parlay for Friday night 4/21

Last week's pitcher prop parlay didn't hit, but that's not going to stop us from trying another this week. What did the great Wayne Gretsky say? "You miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take." Yeah, that sure sounds like it. This might be a shot from the other side of the ice, but considering how high the odds are for this two-leg parlay, we think it's worth it.

Here's a bit of a teaser for two of Friday's games. We like the Angels and Rangers both to win. And it's mostly due to who's starting for both teams. AL MVP favorite Shohei Ohtani is on the hill for Los Angeles and Jon Gray is starting for Texas. So, instead of taking both teams to win in a conventional parlay, take both starting pitchers to record the win. When you combine both into a parlay, you get odds greater than 3/1 — +310 to be exact — and that's not just good, that's great.

If you're wondering why Ohtani is making his second start in the last five days, it's not because the Halos are in desperate need of a win on Friday (even though it sure doesn't hurt). It's because the rain limited Ohtani's start back on Monday to just 31 pitches and two innings. So hey, why not throw him again? It's not like he exerted a ton of energy or threw a lot of pitches. Pitching out of schedule is a little bit concerning, but for Ohtani, we don't see it being much of an issue.

And the fact he's facing Kansas City makes it that much more appealing. The Royals have dropped six straight, have the second fewest wins and have scored the fewest runs in baseball. Ohtani should have no problem against KC on Friday.

As for Jon Gray, well, he and Rangers have things on cruise control right now. Texas has won four straight and currently leads the AL West. It's still early, but don't forget who told you to look out for the Rangers this year ... yeah it was us, that's who.

Gray left Friday's start after the second inning due to a forearm bruise, but the Rangers medical staff already cleared him. That's not ideal but considering he's already back makes us that much more confident there's nothing long term to worry about.

And best of all, Gray hasn't allowed more than two runs in any of his three starts and that shouldn't change against the Athletics. The A's have lost seven in a row and look like they're destined for last place once again in the AL West. Best of all, Gray dominated the A's — 7 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 9 K — the last time he faced them. We're confident he goes the minimum of five innings to quality for the win, and super confident the Rangers lead after five.

The Parlay: Shohei Ohtani AND Jon Gray to record the win (+310 odds via DraftKings)
