MLB best bets, strikeout props for Tuesday 8/29: Tigers' Skubal to feast on Yankee bats

After a 1-2 start to the week in strikeout props, we're looking for a bounceback performance on Tuesday night. Let's get back on track with my three favorite K props for Tuesday's MLB slate.

Aaron Civale under 4.5 Ks (+106 FanDuel)

Aaron Civale is coming off a start in which he tied a season high with nine strikeouts against the Colorado Rockies, but it won't be that easy Tuesday with the Miami Marlins on deck. The Marlins have been one of the toughest teams to punch out all season, and they've recorded the fourth-fewest strikeouts per game over the last two weeks (7.09). Civale has finished between 80 and 90 pitches in all four of his starts with the Tampa Bay Rays. That won't be enough time to rack up five Ks against this stingy lineup.

Alex Cobb under 5.5 Ks (-146 FD)

It's easy to like the over 5.5 Ks here considering how bad the Cincinnati Reds have been at the dish lately. The Reds have struck out 77 times over their last seven games, which is the most in MLB in that span, but there are more signs pointing toward an under here.

Alex Cobb hasn't recorded more than four strikeouts in five straight starts. The San Francisco Giants starter also surrendered a season-high nine hits and five earned runs and failed to punch out a single batter in his lone start against Cincinnati this season. The Reds may not be seeing the ball well right now, but they sure did the last time they faced Cobb.

Tarik Skubal over 6.5 Ks (+124 FD)

Detroit Tigers starter Tarik Skubal has quietly been a strikeout machine this year. The left-hander is averaging 10.2 strikeouts per nine innings, and he's gone over 6.5 Ks in two straight starts against lineups that don't swing and miss very often. Now he gets to face a miserable New York Yankees offense that has a league-worst 33.7 percent strikeout rate over the last week. The plus-money price is just a bonus here.
