MLB best bets: This MLB hit parlay will help you build $$$ for football

Happy Monday! NFL rosters are getting cut down to 53 this week, college football is here and tennis' fourth major begins. There's no shortage of sports and storylines as we near September, and we'll look to build the bankroll here with a simple hit parlay.

Three hitters looking good tonight

Beyond solid trends, one constant that all three of the below hitters have is that their lines are set at 1.5 for hits on DraftKings. Make sure you're looking to FanDuel here, as they allow you to bet on anyone getting one hit. The fact all three had 1.5 lines suggests we're on to something with this group.

San Diego's Garrett Cooper has seen St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright 10 times, hitting an impressive .625 against him. Wainwright is one of the worst pitchers on the rubber tonight and is a logical target. Cooper has piled up eight hits over his last five games and has eight hits in his past six games against the Cardinals.

Houston's Jose Altuve has a hit in 24 of his last 28 games, hitting .314 for the season. In 28 plate appearances against Boston's Chris Sale, Altuve is hitting .333. That's a solid average but even more so, it's a sample size we're comfortable backing.

Last but not least we have Milwaukee's Christian Yelich. Yelich is on a three-game slide, but he hasn't once gone four straight games without a hit this season, this dry spell is sure to end sooner before later. Yelich is hitting .303 against RHP, and that's what he has in Jameson Taillon. In 21 PA vs. Taillon, Yelich is knocking .400 with eight hits. He's averaging 1.6 hits per game against the Cubs this season, piling up 13 over his past six meetings.

Betting: Garrett Cooper, Jose Altuve & Christian Yelich 1+ hit (+153 FanDuel)

In the news ...

Viktor Hovland ends the year on fire — Viktor Hovland has won the FedExCup after two straight tournament wins, pocketing a neat $21.6 million since last weekend. At 25, Hovland is the youngest golfer to ever end the year with two straight wins. There's not much of an offseason when it comes to the PGA Tour: the Fortinet Championship tees off Sept. 14 to signify the start of the fresh season. Golf fans will have to wait until the end of September for the Ryder Cup, which is being played in Rome this year. The United States (-140) are favored over Europe (+150).

U.S. Open tennis begins today — The U.S. Open, one of tennis' biggest tournaments as the fourth major, kicks off today in New York. The draw of this major is the unpredictability, with 13 different men and 15 different women reaching the final in the past nine years. Carlos Alcaraz, last year's winner, is +190 to repeat and is fresh off his first Wimbledon win. Iga Swiatek took home the women's singles win last year and is +200 to do it again. If you're looking for some value on the men's side, might we recommend Russian Daniil Medvedev? Medvedev has reached the U.S. Open final twice in the past four years, winning in 2021. He's +1000 on DraftKings to take home the major win.

Caleb Williams wastes no time building his Heisman case — College football's Week 0 is in the books, and it went about as expected, with big blowouts coming courtesy of the only two ranked teams in action, Notre Dame and USC. 2023 Heisman winner Caleb Williams tossed four touchdowns for USC in the Trojans' opener, backing up his status as the favorite for this season's top individual award. Williams is +500 to win the Heisman, followed by LSU's Jayden Daniels (+1400) and Texas' Quinn Ewers (+1400).
