MLB best bets: Wiesguy's 2 Picks and a Prop for 6/16

Yesterday was another disaster... and the week was starting so well. For the second day in a row, we lost an underdog in extra innings. That's just frustrating.

The Padres are frustrating everyone, and I am adding myself to that list. When are they going to flip that switch?

Friday gives us a full slate, though the Cubbies played this afternoon. The Yankees are at the Red Sox and the Giants are at the Dodgers this weekend but the series I am most interested in is Cincinnati at Houston.

Winning Days: 14 of 29

In Review: Thursday, June 15

San Diego Padres -125 (loss)
The Padres were down 5-3 after one inning and never bridged the gap.

Chicago White Sox +125 (loss)
The Pale Hose lost to the Dodgers in extra innings. That is the second time we have lost an underdog pick in that situation.

MacKenzie Gore Over 5.5 Strikeouts +105 (loss)
He fell short here though I am not sure why they couldn't let him throw another 10 pitches. (might not have mattered)

MLB Picks for Friday, June 16

Favorite
Los Angeles Angels -145 (at Kansas City Royals)

I have to admit I am still trying to figure out what the Angels are. I am more certain about K.C., who with Oakland surging is now officially the worst team in the Majors. Fading them makes sense even if the Angels are not offering a great starting pitcher. They should be able to slug their way to success throughout the weekend.

Underdog
Chicago White Sox +115 (at Seattle Mariners)

The White Sox are not having a good season. Nevertheless, I would have made them a pick'em tonight in Seattle. The Mariners are not having a strong season either and in Bryan Woo, who is making just his third MLB start there is no advantage on the mound. Michael Kopech has elite stuff for the Sox and has been harnessing it lately. Let's lean in there even though the White Sox have been cringy this season.

Prop
Whit Merrifield Over 1.5 Hits +205

Yes, that pricing is correct. Whit Merrifield may not have the profile of some other bats on the Jays, but he has more hits against Rangers lefty Martin Perez than any other Blue Jay. He has a career .357 against the veteran and given he is batting .383 this month I see no reason for his success not to continue.
