We have Byron Buxton bringing elite power against a fly-ball-heavy pitcher, Kyle Tucker heating up in a familiar matchup against a vulnerable lefty split, and JJ Wetherholt continuing to mash with a great setup against a pitcher allowing loud contact. If you’re hunting homers, these are bats that can leave the yard in a hurry.
It’s Wednesday Wallop Watch, and the ingredients are all here for a long-ball night. The matchups check out, the splits are loud, and the pitchers are vulnerable. If you’re looking to cash a home run ticket, this is the group to target.

Buxton already has 11 home runs this season, with 10 coming against right-handers, and continues to rank among the league’s hardest hitters. Mikolas has leaned into a fly-ball-heavy profile and has already surrendered eight home runs this year. Right-handed hitters are batting .286 against him, which plays directly into Buxton’s strengths. With the ball getting elevated, this is a prime setup for another Buxton blast.
The swing is starting to come around for Tucker, who’s batting .273 over the last week and already homered in Houston earlier in the series. He also matches up well against Lance McCullers Jr., going 2-for-3 with a home run in their history. McCullers has struggled more with lefties this season, allowing three of his four home runs to that side while carrying a much higher fly-ball rate than usual. With Tucker heating up and the ball getting elevated, this sets up as a strong power spot.
Tuesday’s postponement just pushes an excellent matchup over to Wednesday for Wetherholt. He has impressed early with elite contact and hard-hit numbers, including a recent stretch near 60% hard contact. He’s already shown power against right-handers with five home runs in those matchups. Sproat’s fly-ball-heavy profile creates opportunity, especially for lefties, who are hitting .300 against him with a .600 slugging percentage and four home runs. The setup still points toward Wetherholt having a chance to leave the yard.
