The weekend is almost upon us, but before the festivities begin, let's try to close out the week with a bang. Here are my three favorite home run props for Friday's MLB slate.
Nolan Arenado should be fairly excited about Friday's matchup. In 22 career at-bats against New York Mets starter Joey Lucchesi, Arenado is batting .364 with three home runs and a .909 slugging percentage. The St. Louis Cardinals third baseman is also seeing the ball well with a .308 batting average and three homers over the last 15 days. This is a great spot for a dinger.
Friday night's matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Cincinnati Reds is looking ripe for homers. The wind will be blowing out to right center field at Great American Ballpark, creating a projected 26 percent boost to home runs (Ballpark Pal). Blue Jays starter Jose Berrios has been prone to giving up the long ball this year, and Reds shortstop Matt McLain has hit eight of his 13 homers off right-handed pitching. This is my favorite price in a game that could turn into a home run derby.
There are a ton of factors working in our favor with this pick. Ezequiel Tovar is the hottest hitter in the Colorado Rockies lineup with his .381 batting average and two home runs over the last five games. Meanwhile, Chicago White Sox starter Michael Kopech has given up the seventh-most home runs in MLB this season (25). Oh, and the Rocky Mountain air at Coors Field is always a trusty friend when targeting home run props. I love the +500 here.
