The Boston Red Sox's 2024 season culminated in an 81-81 record, 13 games out of first place in the American League East behind the longtime rival New York Yankees.

On Friday, the Red Sox made waves with the signing of former Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman, who blasted 26 home runs last season and is expected to add much-needed pop to Red Sox manager Alex Cora's lineup.

MLB insider Jorge Castillo took to Buster Olney's podcast to share his thoughts on the signing, including a warning to Yankees fans about the impact Bregman could have on their division rivals.

"I just spoke to somebody right now on the coaching staff and said he likes that lineup, obviously with Bregman on board," Castillo said to Olney.

"The Red Sox, we talked about it earlier in the offseason, I know you're very high on the Red Sox, and that was before the Bregman signing. They have young talent coming up.

"...You add Alex Bregman, a guy who's won, who's going to be peppering that ball off the Monster, and the Yankees I think know they have some stiff competition coming from Boston again, and it should make for a fascinating summer."
