Coming off an even .500 week in strikeout props, we're looking to put together a profitable week ahead of the first college football Saturday of the season. Let's start off on the right foot with our three favorite K props for Monday's MLB slate.
Pirates at Rangers, 8:05 p.m. ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates have the sixth-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching over the last two weeks (26.6 percent), but this line is still too high on a pitcher who hasn't been an effective strikeout artist all year. Dunning returned to the starting rotation last week and managed just three Ks in 5.0 innings against a vulnerable Boston Red Sox lineup. It's hard to imagine him improving that mark by two when the Texas Rangers don't trust him to throw more than 80 pitches.
Red Sox at Astros, 8:10 p.m. ET
Houck is really struggling to generate strikeouts right now. The Boston Red Sox right-hander has gone under this line in seven of his last nine starts, and he's failed to reach even four Ks in five of his last six. In 50 combined plate appearances against Houck, current Houston Astros hitters have a tiny 6.0 percent strikeout rate. The Astros struck out only once in their last matchup against Houck earlier this month.
Rays at Athletics, 9:40 p.m. ET
Bradley has gotten smacked around for 21 hits and 15 earned runs over his last three starts, but he surrendered one total run over his previous five starts before this stretch. Odds are we see the right-hander return to that form against an Oakland Athletics lineup that ranks 28th in whiff rate (28.1 percent) and chase contact rate (50.7 percent) this year. Bradley already has three double-digit strikeout performances this season, so he could be a good candidate for some plus-money alts in this matchup.
