MLB strikeout props for Mon. 9/9: Good matchup for Sanchez

Coming off an 8-4 week in strikeout props, we're looking to stay hot as we kick off the new week. Let's keep it rolling with our three favorite K props for Monday's MLB slate.

Paul Skenes under 7.5 Ks (-158 FanDuel)

Marlins at Pirates, 6:40 p.m. ET

It's never fun to fade Skenes, but it must be done on Monday night. The Pittsburgh Pirates have started to take it easy on Skenes' workload, as he's recorded fewer than 94 pitches in four of his last five starts. Skenes also hasn't been as effective at forcing swings and misses as he was earlier in the season. The right-hander put up a 33.3 percent strikeout rate through July, but his K rate since then is only 28.9 percent. The Miami Marlins have the third-lowest strikeout rate against righties over the last two weeks (19.5 percent), so this isn't an easy matchup for Skenes.

Cristopher Sanchez 7+ Ks (+136 FD)

Rays at Phillies, 6:40 p.m. ET

Sanchez is on fire with 23 strikeouts over his last three starts. He's been a workhorse for the Philadelphia Phillies of late, and he's needed to be with their back-end starting rotation issues. The left-hander has another chance to go deep in the game on Monday against the Tampa Bay Rays, which have the second-highest strikeout rate against lefties over the last two weeks (34.0 percent). As long as he doesn't get pulled from the game early, Sanchez should be able to hit this alternate line in a solid matchup.

Joey Cantillo over 4.5 Ks (-115 DraftKings)

Guardians at White Sox, 7:40 p.m. ET

Cantillo has just an 18.1 percent strikeout rate and a 20.0 percent chase rate this season, but he's only gone up against tough lineups in the Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Orioles, Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals. He finally gets a break on Monday night with the Chicago White Sox, which are batting just .169 with a .399 OPS and a 25.3 percent K rate against lefties over the last week. Cantillo has an impressive 29.4 percent whiff rate as a rookie, and that ability to force swings and misses will be magnified in this matchup.
