Salaries for catchers are lagging compared to other positions in the big leagues. Only three catchers will earn more than $10 million in 2026, and just 20 will earn more than $1 million.
Sean Murphy of the Atlanta Braves is the highest-paid catcher in 2026 with a salary of $15 million. That ties for 93rd overall among all players. And given the remaining free agent catchers, Murphy will likely remain the highest-paid.
Here's a look at the highest-paid catchers heading into the 2026 season, according to Spotrac.com (as of Dec. 15):
1. Sean Murphy, Braves – $15,000,000 (6 years, $73,000,000)
