Nationals Announce Dylan Crews News After Leaving Braves Game

The Washington Nationals picked up their fourth straight win on Tuesday, defeating the Atlanta Braves to improve to 22-27 on the season. While that record is unimpressive, Washington is trending in the right direction.

One of the bright sports for the Nationals recently has been 23-year-old outfielder Dylan Crews. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, Crews has struggled to start his Nationals tenure, but has shown signs of life recently.

Homering against Atlanta, Crews now owns a .571 slugging percentage in his last seven games, driving in six runs during that span. Unfortunately for Crews and the team, he left Tuesday's game early.

It was initially unclear what caused Crews' exit. He looked uncomfortable following a check swing in his final at-bat, but stayed in the game after drawing a walk. He was then replaced defensively.

After the game, the Nationals announced via manager Dave Martinez that Crews was removed due to a back injury. He will undergo an MRI on Tuesday.

"Davey Martinez just confirmed that Dylan Crews exited the game with a back injury and will receive an MRI," Brandy Flores of DC News Now wrote on X. "Apparently, his back has been an issue for Crews since the series in Atlanta, he re-aggravated it on the check swing during last at bat tonight."

An injured list stint would be unfortunate for Crews. The young outfielder had been putting together one of his better stretches at the big league level, and Washington is amid a four-game winning streak.

More information will likely become available once Crews undergoes his MRI.
