During the New York Yankees double-header against the Boston Red Sox on August 29, George Lombard Jr ended up exiting the game early with discomfort in his right knee.

The injury appeared to come as Lombard was checking his swing while facing Brayan Bello in the second inning. After the game, manager Aaron Boone announced that Lombard would be day-to-day.

Why This Update is Significant for the New York Yankees

The Yankees are entering a difficult stretch of their season and can’t lose any infield depth. While Lombard has struggled defensively as of late with having committed an error in six consecutive games, he still was just promoted and provides the Yankees better stability.

Between the upside Lombard provides on offense and defense he needs these games to close the season out strong and truly make sure his development stays on the right track while also helping provide consistency for a Yankees team making a push for the playoffs.
