The New York Yankees are finding their form. With an 11-0 win tonight over the Chicago Cubs, New York notched its fifth straight win. This evening, it was New York’s offense that carried the load. Right Fielder Aaron Judge began the scoring with a sacrifice fly. He added some great plays in the field as well.
Center Fielder Cody Bellinger torched his former ballclub. He hit three two-run home runs to finish with 6 RBI. Shortstop Anthony Volpe added an RBI double to continue the scoring. First Baseman Paul Goldschmidt and Catcher J.C. Escarra added RBI singles in the bottom of the 7th. Goldschmidt added an RBI double in the bottom of the 8th. Carlos Rodon, hours after being named to the AL All-Star team, tossed 8 scoreless innings while punching out 8. Will the New York Yankees keep winning games?
As was on display this evening, New York’s offense is one of the most potent in Major League Baseball. They are fourth in the league in batting average, leading the league in home runs, and third in runs scored. Judge is putting together another MVP-caliber campaign. He is leading the league in batting average, second in home runs, first in RBI, first in Slugging Percentage, and the league leader in OPS. The offense of the New York Yankees will need to continue succeeding for the ballclub to reach its full potential.
After a historic comeback last night, New York’s offense put forth another great performance. This will bode well for the ballclub as they head into the final two games of their series against the Cubs. The New York Yankees look to be heading into the MLB All-Star break firing on all cylinders.
