The Baltimore Orioles added a former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder on Monday, according to Roch Kubatko.
“#orioles claimed OF Michael Siani off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk. Designated RHP Jose Espada for assignment,” Kubatko reported on X, formerly Twitter.
Siani was designated for assignment after the Dodgers’ trade for Alek Thomas. The O’s ultimately claimed the outfielder on Monday.
Siani, 26, has appeared in 160 total MLB games in his career. He most recently played at the MLB level in 2025 with the St. Louis Cardinals.
At Triple-A in 2026, the outfielder hit .225/.355/.303 across 29 games played. He added five doubles and one triple.
Siani is a player who features potential. He could potentially make an impact with the Orioles.
Baltimore can use the extra depth. The team is currently just 21-26 overall and in fourth place in the American League East standings. The O’s wanted to compete in the division heading into the season, yet they are currently 10 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for first place in the AL East.
Baltimore will have an opportunity to climb the standings this week, however. The Orioles will begin a three-game series on Monday night against the Rays in Tampa Bay. The Rays have played an impressive brand of baseball throughout the ’26 campaign, so it will be a challenging series for the O’s.
With that being said, winning the series would give the ball club a massive momentum boost. First pitch for Monday night’s game is scheduled for 6:40 PM EST.
