Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman is dealing with an ankle injury. Rutschman was recently placed on the 10-day IL with left ankle inflammation. According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the O’s do not expect him to miss too much time overall.
“Rutschman’s stint on the IL with left ankle inflammation began on Saturday. The Orioles expect him to be out not much more than the minimum 10 days,” Rosenthal wrote in a recent article.
The Orioles want to compete this season. In order to accomplish that feat, they will need Rutschman on the field. They will also need him to perform well.
The good news is that it seems Rutschman’s injury is not too serious. He did struggle on the field in 2025, but Rutschman was swinging the bat well before suffering the ankle injury in 2026. Through 10 games played, the Orioles catcher is hitting .294/.385/.471 across 39 plate appearances. He has yet to hit a home run but Rutschman has recorded six doubles.
The 2023 and 2024 All-Star is a crucial player for Baltimore to say the least. Overall, the O’s have been rather mediocre to begin the new campaign. They are currently in third place in the American League East with a 9-9 record. The ball club has displayed potential through the early-season ups and downs, though.
Updates will continue to be provided on Adley Rutschman’s injury status as they are made available. The Orioles’ next game is scheduled for 6:10 PM EST on Thursday in Cleveland against the Guardians, where they will begin a four-game series.
