The Baltimore Orioles continued their recent stretch of strong results Sunday with a 6-2 win over the San Francisco Giants, pushing the club above .500 for the first time in two weeks and extending its run of positive outings to five wins in six games.
While production on the field has improved, the injury bug has kept beating the Orioles as a growing list of injuries keeps sidelining some key contributors across Baltimore's roster.
The Orioles entered the weekend already adjusting to catcher Adley Rutschman's absence after he was placed on the injured list with left ankle inflammation just before Saturday’s game.
Despite that, the Orioles were able to secure the series by winning back-to-back games against San Francisco and moving up to the top of the American League East-albeit in a three-way tie.
Following Sunday’s win, with MRI results for Rutschman and also-injured Ryan Mountcastle already available, Orioles manager Craig Albernaz addressed Rutschman’s status during his postgame press conference, providing an initial update following the imaging.
“Yeah. So, it was encouraging news with Adley, you know, so we said just nip this in the bud, and he’ll be good to go. So, really encouraging news,” Albernaz said.
With the Orioles describing Rutschman's MRI results as “encouraging,” it's fair to assume that his absence will be limited, and that it won't take long for him to return to the field.

-Ryan Mountcastle has broken 4th metacarpal on left foot. Not encouraging result from MRI.
-More encouraging results from MRI on Adley Rutschman’s left ankle. Could be short.
-Tyler O’Neill was dehydrated, fainted on Thurs.
Baltimore is set to host the Arizona Diamondbacks beginning Monday, with continued evaluation expected as the club monitors Rutschman’s recovery and manages its lineup heading into the new series.
The first game between the Orioles and D-backs is scheduled for first pitch at 6:35 p.m. ET.
