Orioles get desperately-needed Dean Kremer injury news

The Baltimore Orioles’ season has not gone as hoped thus far. They are in the midst of a three-game losing streak and sit fourth in the American League East at 39-47. The injury bug has not been the Orioles’ friend, either.

But help may be on the way.

Starting pitcher Dean Kremer threw a bullpen session on Monday. He appears poised to make his return, potentially on July 1 in the series finale against the Chicago White Sox, per MLB.com.

Kremer has been on the 60-day injured list with a right quad strain, retroactive to April 20th.

He recently posted two strong starts in the minors. He allowed just one run over 10 1/3 innings at Triple-A Norfolk on June 21st and 26th.

Prior to his injury, Kremer was 0-1 with a 4.09 ERA and a stellar 0.91 WHIP. Before 2026, the 30-year-old righty posted four consecutive solid seasons for the Orioles. He has spent all seven seasons of his pro career with Baltimore.

Baltimore desperately needs Kremer’s presence in the rotation if they want to make a run at a wild-card spot.

Kyle Bradish, Trevor Rogers, and Shane Baz sit atop the depth chart of the rotation. They are a combined 14-23 with equally poor peripherals.

The Tampa Bay Rays set a blistering pace early in the AL East, but have since cooled down. The New York Yankees are still without All-Star outfielder Aaron Judge. The defending AL champs, the Toronto Blue Jays, have underwhelmed. And the Boston Red Sox are having a miserable season.

So, the Orioles are far from a dead dog in the division. But their pitching needs to improve, and Kremer may be the key.
