The Baltimore Orioles took a step backward as an organization in 2025. They finished with a 75–87 record, landing in last place in the AL East just two years after winning the division title.

The front office is expected to be aggressive in free agency as it looks to improve the roster, especially with the current core still intact and led by shortstop Gunnar Henderson.

Henderson remains the brightest star on the Orioles. The 24-year-old won the 2023 AL Rookie of the Year award, and in 2025, across 154 games, he posted a .274 batting average, .349 on-base percentage, .787 OPS, 17 home runs and 68 RBIs. If the franchise returns to playoff contention in 2026, Henderson will be at the center of it.

As Henderson gears up for his fifth MLB season, he shared a major life update on social media.

In a collaborative Instagram post with his partner, Katherine, the two announced they got married over the past weekend.

“SNEAK PEAK! THE BEST DAY OF OUR LIVES!” the caption read, alongside a slideshow of wedding photos featuring the couple together at the venue.

While the wedding was a personal highlight, Henderson’s attention will eventually return to helping the Orioles bounce back in 2026. His power numbers took a noticeable hit in 2025, following a breakout year in 2024.

That season, Henderson showed just how high his ceiling can be at the big-league level. He finished fourth in AL MVP voting, earned an All-Star selection, launched 37 home runs and stole 21 bases. Both of those counting stats declined this year.

Still, Henderson is just 24 and has plenty of room to grow. Even with a step back in 2025, he remained one of the most productive players on the roster.

Henderson was drafted by the Orioles in the second round of the 2019 MLB Draft and made his MLB debut in 2021. He is under team control for the next three seasons, but if he continues to anchor the lineup and lead the team offensively, the Orioles will have every reason to consider a long-term extension.
