Orioles urged not to sell at trade deadline
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

While rumors surround the Baltimore Orioles regarding what trades the team could make with the Aug. 3 trade deadline fast approaching, there are some people who believe the ball club should not be sellers. As the trade deadline will be an interesting time for the Orioles, the hosts of “Talkin’ Baseball” have intriguing points about the organization.

The reason Baltimore is in the news is that they are currently on a seven-game winning streak, close to a Wild-Card spot, as Jake Storiale mentions their success next to the Boston Red Sox, who have won their last 10 games.

“The Baltimore Birds [Orioles] have entered the conversation, two games back in the wild card, seven in a row,” Storiale said. “If the Red Sox don’t exist, we might be leading off the show with them and said they got our Best Western road warriors. So what do you want, Baltimore?”

As Storiale’s co-host, Trevor Plouffe talks about the team, he would be the one to say that he wants the Orioles to “keep everybody.”

“They’re in an interesting spot,” Plouffe said. “A lot of AL teams are going to have to decide like what season we’re having, and you know what? I really hope the Orioles keep everybody. I don’t want teams to sell. If you’re in the race, go. ”

Storiale would have an interesting viewpoint in that the Orioles could “force the front office’s hand” in potentially wanting to go full-throttle with the team on the roster now and see how they can compete.

“They’ve got time to force the front office’s hand, and that’s, in a way, that’s what you want,” Storiale said. “I think they wish they weren’t in that position.”

It remains to be seen if Baltimore is a true seller at the trade deadline, as the team is currently 49-51, fourth in the AL East, as they start a series against Boston on Monday.
