Padres Announce 2024 Coaching Staff
USA TODAY Sports

The San Diego Padres have announced their entire coaching staff for the 2024 season. They are headlined by new manager Mike Shildt, and the rest of the staff brings a lot of MLB experience to the table.

Ruben Niebla returns as the Padres pitching coach for his third season with the franchise. He has helped turn the team into one of the better pitching organizations in the league, but he will have his work cut out for him this season.

He helped them finish the 20923 season with the second-lowest earned run average, 3.86, in the Major Leagues. Under his guidance, starter Blake Snell won his second Cy Young award after a dominant season.

Victor Rodriguez takes over as the hitting coach for the Friars, after spending the last six seasons with the Cleveland Guardians. He was the assistant hitting coach with them, and he also worked in the same role with the Boston Red Sox prior to joining Cleveland.

He will be tasked with helping the Padres offense become more consistent throughout the season. They struggled for most of the 2023 year, finding their rhythm far too late into the season.

There is a lot of continuity with the coaching staff, which is good for the players. After the year the Padres had, it's good that Shilt decided to keep some familiar faces around.

The Padres are excited about their full staff, and they are hoping for much better results in 2024. Shildt gives this team much hope, and they believe that he is the right man to lead the ship.
