Padres Make 'Historic' Announcement After Guardians Game

The San Diego Padres are still undefeated.

After sweeping the Atlanta Braves in a four-game series to start their 2025 MLB season at Petco Park in San Diego, the Padres kicked off their three-leg homestand versus the Cleveland Guardians on Monday night by scoring a 5-0 win.

The Padres leaned on their robust offense early, as starter Kyle Hart pitched with a huge run support behind him. After giving up a run in the first inning, Hart saw his teammates compile four runs in the second frame.

He exited the mound after five innings of work, allowing two earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and only a walk issued.

With their series-opening victory over Cleveland, the Padres managed to go 5-0 to start the season for just the first time in franchise history, as announced by the team on social media.

A big reason for San Diego's hot start is their pitching. The Padres have a 1.80 ERA and 0.96 WHIP through five games, second and fifth in the MLB thus far, respectively.

The Padres will look to keep their undefeated streak going this Tuesday when they give the ball to Michael King, who was roughed up by the Braves in his first start of the season.

King lasted just 2.2 innings last Thursday versus the Braves after allowing three earned runs on four hits with four free passes but escaped with a no-decision, as the Padres came away with a 7-4 victory.
