Padres Make Stance Clear on Potential Mason Miller Trade

Miller has justified that approach with another dominant season. The hard-throwing right-hander owns a 0.86 ERA with 25 saves while striking out nearly half of the hitters he has faced, making him one of the most valuable late-inning arms in Major League Baseball.

Just as important, Miller remains under team control for three more seasons after 2026. That combination of elite production, affordability and long-term control significantly raises his trade value and gives the Padres little incentive to move him unless an extraordinary package is offered.

San Diego also enters the deadline believing it can remain in the National League postseason race. Trading away its closer would weaken a bullpen that has been central to the club's success in tight games this season.

While Miller's name will likely continue to surface in trade rumors over the coming days, the Padres have made their position clear. Unless another team delivers an offer too good to refuse, one of baseball's most dominant relievers is expected to remain in San Diego beyond the trade deadline.
