San Diego Padres right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. has established himself as one of the best players in Major League Baseball over the past few years. This past year was his sixth season playing. In his career, Tatis has totaled three All-Star appearances and two Silver Slugger Awards while batting .277 with 152 home runs and 393 RBIs in 671 games.
Tatis was phenomenal again in 2025, as he stayed healthy all year, playing in 155 games. In those games, he had a .268 batting average and an .814 OPS with 25 homers and 71 RBIs. He was also a force on the base paths, stealing a career-high 32 bags.
Not only was Tatis a force on the offensive side this season, but his defense was top-notch as well. On Sunday, Tatis was announced as one of three National League Gold Glove Award winners for the outfield. This was the second time he had won the award in his career.
On Friday, his incredible defense was honored again, as he was announced as the Rawlings Platinum Glove Award winner for the NL. This is given to the best defensive player in the league.
After this was announced, the Padres reacted on social media.
"Gold shines, but platinum dominates," the caption read.

This was also the second time Tatis has taken home the Platinum Glove Award after he was the winner in the NL in 2023 as well. He is just the third player in National League history to do this since the award started in 2011.
Tatis and the Padres will hope to improve on their 90-72 record next season under a new manager in Craig Stammen.
