Pat Murphy hit it out of the park with his postgame message on Thursday night.

The Milwaukee Brewers manager was riding high on adrenaline following the team’s 6-4 comeback win in front of a road crowd at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif. The victory completed a 4-0 sweep of the defending champions in the NLCS.

The veteran skipper, standing on the celebration stage in front of his whole team and coaching staff, spoke into Kevin Burkhardt’s mic with a quote to remember.

“They may have a bunch of Hall of Famers,” the Brewers manager said as if he were cutting a promo. “But we’ve got a bunch of gamers. And the gamers won this week.”

In all fairness to the Brew Crew, Milwaukee does have some potential Hall of Famers on its roster. Rising stars such as Jackson Chourio and Jacob Misiorowski could end up in Cooperstown once it’s all said and done. Former MVP Christian Yelich also has an outside shot should he have a late-career resurgence or put on an MVP-caliber performance in the Fall Classic.

But the Brewers were no match for the Dodgers in terms of star power. L.A.’s lineup was stacked with former MVPs Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman, with All-Stars hitting around them. The team’s rotation boasted several Cy Young-caliber talents, then went on to add Tarik Skubal before the trade deadline.

All of that didn’t matter.

The Dodgers’ star-studded roster was no match for the Brewers’ group of “gamers” bound for the franchise’s first World Series in 44 years.
