Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm has been out for nearly a month with a fractured rib. Since the injury, the team’s efficiency has plummeted as they have been incapable of driving in runners in scoring position.
Thankfully, they’ll be getting the slugger back at the perfect time as they gear up for a postseason push. The Phillies announced that Bohm will be activated from the injured list before their matchup with the Washington Nationals on Sunday.
In a corresponding move, the team will send infielder Otto Kemp, who filled in while Bohm was injured, to Lehigh Valley with the team’s AAA affiliate.

moves:
- Right-handed pitcher Aaron Nola was returned from his rehab assignment with triple-A Lehigh Valley and reinstated from the 60-day injured list
- Third baseman Alec Bohm was returned

While the Philadelphia infielder hasn’t posted great power numbers this season, before the injury, he was on pace to finish around 100 runs batted in, something he had done the two seasons prior. Bohm will now rejoin the team to aid an offense that has been scuffling as of late.
Before Bohm went down with the injury, the Phillies were in the top 10 in team batting average, but since that day in July, they have fallen all the way down to 13th. The former All-Star will probably never tap into the power that Philadelphia believes he possesses, but he has always had an uncanny knack for driving in runs.
Currently, the Phillies are holding a five-game lead over the New York Mets, who have one of the worst records in baseball over the last couple months. Only time will tell if they can fight themselves back into a competitive position, but Bohm will assist Philly in trying to make sure that doesn’t happen.
