If the Philadelphia Phillies don't win the World Series in 2025, there could be multiple moves the front office makes in the offseason.
The Phillies have a reason to continue running the same core for the next few months, but there's even a scenario where they could look to make a few massive moves at the deadline.
Dave Dombrowski hasn't been very aggressive at the deadline in recent years, but given the lack of success the Phillies have had in the playoffs outside of their World Series run, there's a scenario where they could look to make a blockbuster deal.
Outside of that, there are other situations the Phillies have to consider.
Among the moves that could happen over the next year includes the potential departure of Kyle Schwarber. Schwarber, an elite hitter who fits in perfectly in this Philadelphia lineup, is a free agent next winter.
And according to a recent report from Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, there seems to be a chance he might walk. Rosenthal reported that the Phillies offered him an extension during the winter, but after the initial talks, nothing came about.
"Kyle Schwarber. The Phillies offered him an extension during the offseason, but after an initial proposal, talks failed to advance. Schwarber was content going year to year after turning down an extension with the Cubs early in his career.
"And while he wants to stay in Philadelphia, he’s also content playing out his free-agent year. He will be 33 next season but surely would be in demand on the open market. Since 2022, only Aaron Judge has hit more home runs," Rosenthal wrote.
Schwarber is a big power bat, evident by his 38-plus home runs in each of the past three seasons.
He's already blasted five this year and is swinging the bat better than ever early on in the campaign.
If this continues, his price will only rise.
