As it turns out, Brandon Marsh and his Philadelphia Phillies weren’t the only ones celebrating at Citizens Bank Park on Monday night.

Midway through an eventual 4-3, 11-inning walk-off win over the Chicago Cubs, the Phillies announced they’d raised over $800,000 on ALS Night. Specifically, the club raised $800,004 to “strike out ALS,” also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

The Phillies thanked Asplundh, a Pennsylvania-based environmental company, for their help. Asplundh donated $365,000 in honor of former executive Scott Asplundh, who is battling ALS.

“Tonight’s event was about giving hope to the brave individuals and their families who are affected by ALS,” Phillies owner John Middleton said.

“We thank our fans, and especially Asplundh, for all their support as we aim to find a cure for this terrible disease,” Middleton added.

The Phillies announced that they’ve raised nearly $24 million to fight ALS since 1984. Major League Baseball celebrated Lou Gehrig Day on June 2, the 84th anniversary of Gehrig’s passing.

On the field, the Phillies gave those attending—including an “ALS Lineup of Courage” featuring those affected by ALS—a night to remember. Down 3-2 in the 11th, Phillies rookie third baseman Otto Kemp completed a three-hit night with a game-tying bunt.

That set the stage for Marsh’s walk-off single. The slumping Marsh went 2-for-3 off the bench and ended the Phillies’ seven-game losing streak.
