Phillies Trade Pitch Lands 18 Home Run Brandon Marsh Replacement

The Philadelphia Phillies are expected to find an outfielder at the trade deadline, something Dave Dombrowski has been looking for over the past few years.

Unfortunately, platoon bats like Austin Hays and Max Kepler have their benefits at times, but for Philadelphia, it simply hasn't worked out.

Now, Dombrowski has failed way too many times for the Phillies to continue doing this, so they need to go out and add a player who can play every single day and give them good at-bats.

They were recently linked to one in the form of Wilyer Abreu of the Boston Red Sox, who is one of the more underrated players in Major League Baseball, by The Athletic.

“Abreu, like Duran, could become expendable in Boston thanks to the wave of young bats. But he’s also young enough (26) and under team control for long enough (2029) to be part of the Red Sox’s long-term plan, putting them in the driver’s seat for any potential negotiations.

“Even if the Red Sox are open to trading Abreu, there’s no rush to do so now. He’s putting up very good numbers at the plate that are in line with his strong rookie showing, and he will be in the mix for a second Gold Glove Award and won’t even be arbitration eligible until 2027,” they wrote.

Abreu might not be available, but if he is, this is the type of player the Phillies should be all over.

He's hitting .260 this season with 18 home runs, something this lineup needs.

In the early stages of the campaign, Abreu was one of the better hitters in baseball. He slowed down a bit, but he's still very good and would help this team in a major way.
