The Philadelphia Phillies and Colorado Rockies agreed to a trade on Friday. The Phillies announced that they traded right-handed pitcher Andrew Baker for international bonus pool money. For the Rockies, the move comes after Chase Dollander was placed on the injured list. Meanwhile, the Phillies have had ups and downs, but they have performed better in recent action.

Baker, 26, has yet to make his big league debut. The right-handed reliever has displayed signs of promise, and he could certainly make an impact with a Rockies ball club that unquestionably needs more pitching depth. Through 14 games at the Double-A level this year, Baker has pitched to a strong 2.65 ERA. He has 25 strikeouts in 17 innings of work as well.

The Rockies are 19-32 this season. The team has struggled in recent years, and it seems as if that is not going to change in 2026. Nevertheless, bringing in another pitcher should help matters.

It will be interesting to see if Andrew Baker is able to make a significant impact with the Rockies if given an opportunity at the MLB level.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia is now 25-25 overall. The ball club has endured a difficult season, but it seems like the Phillies are beginning to get back on track. They expect to compete despite their inconsistent campaign.

The Phillies are currently playing the Cleveland Guardians. Cleveland leads the American League Central standings. As for the Rockies, Colorado is set to play the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night. Arizona is in third place in the National League West standings.
