The Phillies began the contest with Kyle Schwarber hitting a home run in his fifth straight game before Bryson Stott doubled the lead in the second inning. Meanwhile, Zack Wheeler tossed 7.1 innings, allowing only one run to take the win. Philadelphia has now won 12 of the last 16 games.

The Red Sox have three defeats in the last four games. Jovani Moran picked up the loss after starting the game as an opener for Brayan Bello. Boston’s lineup could not capitalize on its opportunities despite outhitting its opponents.

Phillies vs. Red Sox Game 2: Starting Pitchers

Andrew Painter starts on the mound for the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 2. The rookie right-hander did not make the impact the fans hoped for yet, with a 1-4 record from seven outings. He has a 6.89 ERA from 32.2 innings with a 1.714 WHIP.

Sonny Gray will be the starting pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. The 36-year-old veteran posted a strong return from the IL last week, with five scoreless frames, after a couple of rough outings. He has a 3-1 record with a 3.54 ERA but only 15 strikeouts in 28.1 innings.
