Pirates’ affiliates picked up two wins on Wednesday, with Charles McAdoo logging a double and a homer in one of the organization’s highlight performances. Outside of McAdoo, it’s been a rough season at the plate for many of Pittsburgh’s prospects, but big names like Jack Brannigan and Mitch Jebb still managed to make their presence felt yesterday.
Triple-A Indianapolis continued their offensive outburst, crushing the Iowa Cubs 14-3. Liover Peguero hit a grand slam, his first homer in nearly a month, as did Matt Fraizer. Over on the mound, Bailey Falter struggled in his first rehab start since heading to the Injured List with triceps tendinitis, allowing two runs in three innings.
McAdoo, a 2023 thirteenth round pick, manufactured all the offense for Altoona, contributing both RBI and three of seven hits in the Curve’s 5-2 loss to Erie… although he also added a fielding error. The stalwart utility man, who recently worked his way onto MLB Pipeline’s list of top Pirates’ prospects, came a triple shy of the cycle.
Greensboro lost 5-1 to the Asheville Tourists despite a homer from Jack Brannigan. Other top hitting prospects made their way on base, as Mitch Jebb doubled and 2022 first round pick Termarr Johnson extended his hitting streak to 17 games.
Designated hitter Garret Forrester, last year’s third round pick, picked up three hits for the Bradenton Marauders, helping them eke out a 3-2 win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers.
