Pirates vs. Cardinals: The Pittsburgh Pirates resume their three-game series on the road against division rivals, the St. Louis Cardinals, on Wednesday evening. The Cardinals have the lead after beating the Pirates 9-6 at Busch Stadium on Tuesday night.

Pittsburgh is going through a tough stretch with seven defeats in the last 12 games. Mitch Keller allowed four earned runs over 5.2 innings while the bullpen failed to hold down the opposition. The Pirates’ offense struggled with runners in scoring position despite getting plenty of hits.

St. Louis has picked up its momentum over the past three weeks, taking 14 wins from the last 20 games. Matthew Liberatore lasted less than five innings, but the relievers did a superb job of holding the opponents at bay. Eventually, Ivan Herrera sealed the win with a walk-off home run in the ninth.
