The Texas Rangers have had an up and down 2026 season. They are currently 20-22 overall and in third place in the American League West standings. Starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi recently suffered an injury scare, however. On Wednesday, Eovaldi shared an update on his injury, via Kennedi Landry of MLB.com.
“Nathan Eovaldi (left side tightness) threw a bullpen today and said he feels good. Nothing official yet, but he believes he’ll be able to make his next scheduled start in order, which would be Sunday in Houston,” Landry reported.
Eovaldi, a 36-year-old right-handed hurler, has pitched to a 4.15 ERA across eight starts so far during the 2026 campaign. He has also recorded 47 strikeouts in 47.2 innings of work on the mound.
While Eovaldi has not been on top of his game in 2026, he is still making an impact for the Rangers. Texas is hopeful that Eovaldi will not have to miss too much time. Barring any setbacks, Eovaldi could realistically make his next start.
Overall, Texas has gone 4-6 in their past 10 games this year. They have simply had a mediocre overall season. Nevertheless, the Rangers are only a game and a half behind the Athletics for the lead in the American League West standings.
At the moment, Texas is focused on its upcoming contest against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night. The series is currently tied 1-1. The Rangers could certainly use a series victory at home.
First pitch for the Diamondbacks and Rangers clash in Texas on Wednesday night is scheduled for 8:05 PM EST.
