Freddy Peralta has made his preference clear ahead of the World Series. The Tampa Bay Rays right-hander said he would love to remain with the organization for the rest of his career, giving the club something to consider as he approaches free agency.
“I’m very comfortable here,” Peralta said in an interview with Foul Territory. “I would love to stay here for the rest of my career.” He also praised the organization’s staff and explained that living in Florida makes things easier for him away from baseball.
The comments come as Peralta prepares to face his former team, the Milwaukee Brewers, in the World Series. Tampa Bay acquired the two-time All-Star from the New York Mets at the trade deadline, and his turnaround has helped the Rays reach the sport’s biggest stage.

Peralta spent the first eight seasons of his major league career in Milwaukee before the Brewers traded him to the Mets in January. He struggled in New York, going 5-9 with a 4.99 ERA across 22 starts. Tampa Bay acquired him on Aug. 2, hoping he could strengthen its rotation for the postseason.
The move has paid off. Peralta finished the regular season with a 4.42 ERA across 32 starts, including a much stronger finish after joining the Rays. He then delivered a 1.08 ERA over 16 2/3 postseason innings, earning American League Championship Series MVP honors as Tampa Bay advanced past Cleveland.
The Rays finished the regular season 98-64, winning the American League East, while Milwaukee posted a franchise-record 103-59 mark to secure the National League’s top seed. The matchup gives Peralta an opportunity to face the teammates he spent years alongside while competing for his first World Series championship.
Peralta is scheduled to start Game 3 on Monday, Oct. 26, when the series shifts to Tampa Bay. His immediate focus remains on helping the Rays win the title, but his comments have also made his future an important offseason question.
Peralta is set to become a free agent after the season. His preference to stay gives Tampa Bay a clear indication of his interest, but no agreement has been announced. The Rays must decide whether they can reach a deal with the veteran starter after his strong finish and postseason run.
