Rays-Guardians Game 4 officially postponed due to weather

The Cleveland Guardians won Game 3 of the 2026 ALCS over the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday. On Friday, they expected to host Game 4 and attempt to take a 3-1 series lead over Tampa Bay. Unfortunately, this will not be happening on Friday night.

Game 4 of the 2026 ALCS has been postponed, as confirmed by ESPN’s Jeff Passan. Game 4 will now be played on Saturday night at 8pm Eastern Time. As a result, Game 5 has been moved to Sunday at 5pm Eastern Time. This postponement comes amid intense rainfall in Cleveland on Friday night.

The Guardians played host to the Rays in Game 3 on Thursday, as previously mentioned. Cleveland and Tampa entered that contest with the series tied 1-1. In the end, it was Cleveland that came away with a big 3-2 win at home in Game 3.

Cleveland and Tampa already know who they will face in the World Series should they advance. The Milwaukee Brewers completed a sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night. As a result, the Brewers are in the World Series for the first time since 1982.

Cleveland and Tampa certainly haven’t had to wait that long for a World Series appearance. However, fans of both teams have agonized over this ALCS all the same. The Rays last made the World Series in 2020, while the Guardians last appeared in 2016.

Tampa Bay has never won the World Series. Cleveland hasn’t won it since 1948. One of these droughts could end this year. Both teams will need to wait one more day to see who gets closer to representing the American League in the World Series.
