Rays place RHP Andrew Kittredge on 45-day injured list with injured elbow

The Tampa Bay Rays confirmed on Wednesday that right-handed pitcher Andrew Kittredge was added to the 45-day injured list after he was diagnosed with a sprain of his right ulnar collateral ligament.

As Juan Toribio wrote for MLB.com, the 30-year-old reliever exited Tuesday's game versus the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park after he faced only two batters due to what was first described as elbow soreness.

"It was something I never felt before, so that was kind of concerning," Kittredge explained. "But as soon as I got out of the game, I started to feel a little better."

Kittredge only earned the first save of his MLB career on Monday against the Red Sox. He was the opener for Tuesday's bullpen game.

In eight appearances this season, Kittredge tallied a 2.25 ERA with three strikeouts.
