We’re halfway through the final full month of the 2025 Minor League season. This past week, Week 21, saw a lot of action, including some from several notable 2024 first-rounders. JJ Wetherholt had a huge week, while Konnor Griffin continued to pound A-ball pitching — and earned himself another promotion.
Since his move to Triple-A, Cardinals infielder JJ Wetherholt has rolled through the competition.
Wetherholt hit .364 with three home runs over the last week, raising his 2025 home run total with Memphis to nine. He hit seven home runs over 62 games with Double-A Springfield.
In total, the 2024 first-round pick hit .303/.419/.529 (.948 OPS) with 16 home runs and 39 extra-base hits this season.
The Pirates officially promoted 2024 first-round pick Konnor Griffin to Double-A on August 18.
There wasn’t much left for Griffin to prove at High-A. Since the start of August, the 19-year-old hit .328/.447/.508 with three home runs, 13 stolen bases, and 16 RBI for Greensboro (A+). Across 51 games with the Grasshoppers, his .942 OPS was higher than his .932 OPS in roughly the same number of games (50) with Bradenton (A).
In total, Griffin has 59 stolen bases on the year and hit .322 with 16 home runs on the season.
Aside from Grififn, there was a lot of movement across the Minor Leagues.
Mariners infielder Felnin Celesten, one of the team’s top prospects, was promoted from Modesto (A) to Everett (A+) on August 18. Celesten hit .285/.349/.384 (.733 OPS) with five home runs and 20 stolen bases with the Nuts.
Lastly, the Orioles released infielder Anthony Servideo. Servideo was a third-round by the Orioles back in 2020.
Here’s a look at notable 2025 MLB Draft picks who were moved to full-season ball over the last week:
