We’re into May, meaning that all of us have had a month to digest some of what’s gone on across Minor League Baseball. It’s been an interesting month for Jones, who continues to whiff at a high rate. However, he, along with others, had loud, offensive weeks during Week 5 of the 2026 season.
Yankees outfielder Spencer Jones‘ curious 2026 season took a turn for the better this past week. Jones led the Triple-A level with five home runs this past week, and finished in a lengthy tie for second in total hits (10) across the International League.
Five hitters in that league had 11 hits to lead the way. Three of those were Edwin Arroyo, A.J. Ewing, and Kemp Alderman. Ewing also racked up four stolen bases in his first week with Syracuse after he was promoted last week.
Two Rockies hitters had fantastic weeks in the hitters’ paradise known as the Pacific Coast League.
Cole Carrigg had 14 hits on the week, tied for first in the circuit alongside Henry Bolte. Additionally, his four stolen bases were also the most in the PCL.
Meanwhile, former first-round pick Sterlin Thompson had 11 hits and nine RBI for the Isoptes. Those numbers add on to what’s been a good 2026 for the former Florida Gator standout.
Thompson is presently slashing .347/.480/.495 with three home runs and eight extra-base hits over 29 contests this year.
While the Tigers have plenty of big-name prospects in the system, one prospect who may not get enough love is John Peck.
The 23-year-old and former seventh-round pick had four home runs this past week for Erie, which raised his 2026 total to six. He doesn’t walk a lot but makes plenty of contact — and quality contact, at that.
