Forget all that talk about the struggling Tampa Bay Rays. They are not even close to struggling right now, winning 18 of their last 24 games. Tampa Bay is coming off an impressive three-game sweep of the New York Mets at Citi Field.

With this surge, it's no wonder that Rays manager Kevin Cash is extremely pleased with his team's performance. Shane Baz provided a huge boost to the Rays' bullpen, working deep into a 9-0 win on Sunday against the Mets.

“We are playing good baseball. I’m very encouraged by the way we played - offense, defense and pitching,” Cash said after Sunday's win, MLB.com reported. “To do that against this quality Mets team, everything has to go right like it did for the most part.”

Tampa Bay Rays dominated New York Mets with solid starting pitching, clutch hitting

Tampa Bay jumped on Mets pitchers all game long, eventually getting a six-run lead in the fifth inning. Jonathan Aranda's double down the right-field line scored Josh Lowe and Junior Caminero. But Caminero had a little Father's Day love to send out to his father, who was watching from the Citi Field stands.

Caminero slammed a three-run homer in the ninth inning, putting a cap on an excellent weekend in New York.

Cash understands that his team is still looking up at the New York Yankees, who sit in first place in the American League East Division. He knows that there is still a lot of work to do before even talking about postseason play.

“The Yankees are a very good team, but we have to control what we can and that’s kind of staying series to series," Cash said. "We did a good job of resetting after the Red Sox series to come to [Citi Field] after the off-day and play well. Now we have to go home and do that in the Orioles series.”

The Baltimore Orioles come to George M. Steinbrenner Field on Monday night to start a three-game series against the Rays.
