Red Sox announce major decision on new manager

Chad Tracy has been the interim manager of the Boston Red Sox since the end of April.

On Tuesday, the team announced that Tracy is no longer the interim manager. Instead, he received the position with a new three-year contract that will run through 2029.

The Red Sox also agreed to exercise the 2029 and 2030 options for Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow.

The Red Sox fired Alex Cora at the end of April after a surprising 10-17 start. Tracy, who was with Triple-A Worcester, was named the interim manager, and he has helped turn things around quickly in Boston.

Boston has gone 74-55 under Tracy, and they enter Tuesday with an American League Wild Card spot secured in an unreal turnaround.

At the end of August, it was reported that Tracy getting the full-time job was “more likely than not,” and the Red Sox didn’t even wait until the end of the season to secure Tracy’s future.

Now, the Red Sox are preparing for the postseason, and Chad Tracy has some security about his job for the next few years.
