After trading Rafael Devers, there's no telling what the Boston Red Sox might do.
Over the past few weeks, there have been rumors that star outfielder Jarren Duran could be dealt. Instead, the Red Sox went the other way, trading one of the best players in Major League Baseball.
Duran is very good and was an All-Star last season, but saying that he's anything close to Devers would be unfair to both sides.
But for Duran, this might have been a telling sign of what's to come for his future in Boston. After a few weeks of trade speculation, it's possible that he could be the next one out.
According to CBS Sports, he's one of two names the Red Sox could cut ties with in the coming weeks.
“Do they move Jarren Duran -- one of their top performers -- for pitching help at the deadline? The outfield is crowded, and that scenario isn't off the table. Could Wilyer Abreu be part of a deal? With the Devers chapter closing, the front office has decisions to make. At least one more arm and an additional bat may be necessary to stay in the race,” CBS wrote.
Trading Duran doesn't seem to make much sense, unless the Red Sox are worried about not getting Roman Anthony full-time at-bats.
However, they've been able to coexist in the lineup so far, a trend that needs to continue if Boston wants to be the team it aspires to be over the next decade.
Still, after trading Devers, it's very possible that the Red Sox front office wants to continue moving on from certain players, and Duran could be the next one in line.
