The Boston Red Sox shared a fresh update on Roman Anthony's recovery Friday, with interim manager Chad Tracy saying the organization's top prospect is making "slow progress" as he works his way back from a finger sprain that landed him on the 60-day injured list.

Anthony had been widely expected to make his Major League debut before the injury after an impressive run with Triple-A Worcester. Instead, his rehab remains ongoing in Florida, delaying the arrival of one of baseball's most highly regarded prospects.

The update came as Boston prepared to open the second half of the season at 46-48, sitting third in the American League East and 10 games behind the division-leading Tampa Bay Rays. Tracy also addressed the status of several other key players working toward returns.

Among the more encouraging developments, left-hander Ranger Suárez threw a bullpen session during the All-Star break and was scheduled to throw again on Friday. If everything continues as planned, Tracy said the veteran remains on track to be activated on Tuesday.

Trevor Story has also reached another milestone in his recovery from sports hernia surgery, resuming hitting and increasing his defensive work. Meanwhile, Marcelo Mayer and Isiah Kiner-Falefa are expected to undergo X-rays early next week to evaluate the healing of their respective bone injuries.

Tracy added that ace Garrett Crochet is also making "slow progress" while recovering from shoulder inflammation, placing him alongside Anthony among Boston's longer-term rehabilitation cases.

For the Red Sox, the health of Anthony and several established contributors could play a major role in shaping the club's second-half outlook. With the trade deadline approaching and Boston chasing a postseason berth, every recovery timeline will carry added importance over the coming weeks.
