Red Sox Trade Idea Involves Recently Dealt White Sox Starting Pitcher

Starting pitcher Aaron Civale has already been dealt once this season. Civale, whose relationship with the Milwaukee Brewers grew fractious after the club requested he move to the bullpen, was traded to the Chicago White Sox on June 13.

Since then, he has appeared in one game for the South Siders – a five-inning outing against the Texas Rangers two days after the trade. Civale took the loss in the contest, allowing six hits and two earned runs while striking out four batters and walking four more.

There is a chance, though, that Chicago will not be Civale's final destination by season's end. NESN.com's Owen Crisafulli believes that the Boston Red Sox may need his services, especially since the two starting pitchers the team received in a separate trade involving Rafael Devers are not big-league ready yet.

"Boston did add some pitching in [Jordan] Hicks and [Kyle] Harrison from the Giants as part of their Devers deal, but Hicks is on the injured list, and Harrison was assigned to Triple-A. As a result, the pitching staff still needs help, which is where New England native Aaron Civale comes into play," Crisafulli wrote.

"Civale was just traded from the Brewers to the Chicago White Sox after he requested a trade when the team asked him to move to the bullpen. While it may seem unlikely he gets dealt again, reports indicate the White Sox are looking to flip him again before the trade deadline."
