Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Brady Singer suffered an injury scare during the team's 2-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. In the sixth inning, a batted ball bounced off Singer's foot. He was still able to finish the inning -- completing six innings of one-run baseball -- but attention shifted to his potential injury concern after the contest. Fortunately, the X-rays came back negative.
Singer commented on the encouraging injury update while speaking to reporters, via Chatterbox Sports.
"I'm just glad the X-rays came back good," Singer said. "Just got me kind of square in the foot. Obviously it hurts a little bit, but we're good. We will be good for the next (game)."
Singer allowed six hits and only had one strikeout, but he found success nonetheless. Finishing the sixth inning was something that was important to him despite the injury scare.
"I wanted to get through the sixth. I've had some short innings this year," Singer added, via Charlie Goldsmith. "I wanted to finish that off. I'm glad he got out kind of quick."
Barring any setbacks, Singer is expected to be ready for his next scheduled start. He is hoping to build off of Tuesday's strong outing moving forward.

Singer, 29, has endured a difficult overall 2026 campaign. The right-handed hurler now holds a 5.60 ERA across four outings. He has 14 strikeouts in his 17.2 innings of work.
For the most part, Singer has been consistent over the years. He has not emerged as a star, but the Reds know what they are getting when Singer is on the mound.
He has pitched in at least 32 games in each of the past two seasons. Singer goes out every fifth day and gives everything he has. Sure, he is not the most dominant starting pitcher in all of MLB, but he is a good veteran to have in a starting rotation.
The fact that Singer wanted to finish the sixth inning on Tuesday night is telling of what kind of pitcher he is. The Reds value everything he offers the ball club.
The Reds will play the Giants again on Wednesday and Thursday as the series moves forward. Overall, Cincinnati is tied with the Pittsburgh Pirates at 10-7 for first place in the National League Central division. The Reds are certainly hopeful that they can take sole possession of first place soon.
